Most of the surviving grand manors of any worth are built in an easily discernable vernacular style. However most of them were built of timber and mud mortar and have long given way to fairly non descript and unattractive brick concrete structures. A definite must see is the Palace of the Nawab of Janjira, not only for it's Indo-Saracen architecture, but also for the sheer majesty of it's location on a promonotory overlooking the ocean.
